What is a polypropylene fish tank?
PP fish tanks are made by welding polyethylene sheets. Because polyethylene sheets are corrosion-resistant and heat-resistant, they can be used for extended periods in environments with a pH of 2-12. The normal product lifespan is 8-15 years.

Regarding the size and shipping issues.
◉ Diameter selection: 2.3-8m.
We will cut the parts according to the design at the factory, ship them separately, and weld them on site. On-site welding requires specialized welding equipment and skilled welders. We can send engineers to the site to assist with installation.
◉ Diameter selection: 1-2.2m.
We will weld and assemble them in the factory and then ship them as a whole. With a diameter of 2.2m, this is the maximum size that a shipping container can accommodate.
How to install a PP&Poly fish tank?
Step 1 – Sheet cutting.
- We will cut the PP sheets to the most suitable size for transportation and installation according to different tank sizes.
- For example, if you need a fish tank with a diameter of 6 meters:
- If you use a 20-foot container for transportation, with an internal length of 5.8 meters, you can cut the PP sheet to 4.75 meters. This facilitates transportation and welding.
- If you use a 40-foot container for transportation, with an internal length of 11.8 meters, you can cut the PP sheet to 9.42 meters. This reduces the amount of welding work required on-site.
Step 2 – Transportation and Site Preparation
Site preparation requires the following:
- Construction of the fish tank bottom, requiring a solid ground surface. Concrete or compacted soil is generally used.
- Conical bottom: We recommend using a sloping bottom, as this is more conducive to the collection and discharge of sewage.
- Pre-installation of a central wastewater discharge system or drainage pipes.
Step 3 – On-site bottom welding
- Inspect the site conditions for the bottom.
- Place the cut PP sheet into the pre-fabricated conical bottom.
- Use professional welding tools; normally, we need two portable PP sheet welding machines.
Step 4 – On-site Side Welding
- It is recommended to use a professional PP sheet welding machine. This type of machine, with a 1.5-2m welding range, makes side welding much easier.
- Weld the side reinforcement strips. We will design the number of reinforcement strips during the design phase; these will be used to strengthen the side support.
- Weld the joint between the bottom and the side.

Standard customized sizes are 1.2-2.2m in diameter for easy transportation.
We can install a pre-fabricated central drain valve at the bottom of the PP fish tank.
This way, you won’t need to weld the central drain valve after receiving the fish tank.
We can pre-fabricate the connectors for the side overflow and bottom drain.
This way, once you receive the fish tank, you only need to connect the PVC pipes to use it directly.

- For tanks with a diameter less than 2.2m, we can directly install the bottom drain and side overflow outlets. And use quick-connect fittings.After receiving the tank, you can connect it to a PVC pipe and use it.
- For tanks with a diameter greater than 2.2m, we can design and cut the PP sheets to size according to your order quantity.
For large PP fish tanks, we offer two installation solutions:
- For smaller quantities, we can send professional welding equipment and provide welding and installation guidance.
- For larger quantities, we can dispatch professional welding engineers to the site to provide installation guidance.
- Alternatively, we can send welders directly to the site for installation.
