A perfect alternative to large fiberglass aquaculture tanks

For the aquaculture of marine species, modular PP fish tanks are a perfect alternative to fiberglass fish tanks and ordinary PP tanks. This is because other types of fish tanks, such as galvanized fish tanks, are not resistant to seawater corrosion. Furthermore, fiberglass tanks and ordinary PP tanks are more expensive to use.
In the RAS aquaculture system, the optimal fish breeding tank diameter is 6-8m.
Based on this size, we developed this PP board one-piece molding mold, which can be assembled into a 6-8m aquaculture tank.
Installation is simple and the tank is robust and durable.
Large-scale use will reduce investment costs.
A perfect replacement for large plastic fiber fish tanks.
Advantages of Modular PP Tanks VS Large Fiberglass Aquaculture Tanks

Modular PP fish tank

Fiberglass fish tank
- Commercial fiberglass fish holding tanks are generally prefabricated fish ponds.
- Their size and capacity are typically below 2000L.
- Our modular PP fish ponds are commercial fish holding tanks specifically developed for large-scale aquaculture.
- Their maximum capacity can reach 70,000L.

Modular PP fish tanks Transportation

Large Fiberglass fish tanks Transportation
- Large fiberglass fish tanks are very difficult to transport and usually require large vehicles.
- Modular PP fish tanks are molded, with each PP sheet only 2.2m long and 10mm thick. Transportation methods can be flexibly chosen based on order quantity.
Advantages of Modular PP Tanks VS Traditional Large Poly fish tank

Advantages of Modular PP Tank
- Modular installation: Quick installation, no on-site welding required.
- PP board thickest:100mm in thickness, More robust, more durable
- Low cost: Automated integrated molding results in lower finished product costs.
Disadvantages of Common PP Fish Tank
- Modular installation: On-site welding is required, resulting in high labor costs.
- PP board thickest:10-12mm only
- Low cost: It requires on-site hot-melt welding, which is costly in terms of both technology and labor.

How to build Modular PP&Fiberglass aquaculture tanks with Tarpaulin liner

Step 1 – Site Ground Reinforcement
The area where the Modular PP aquaculture tank will be installed needs ground reinforcement.Concrete or compacted soil is recommended.

Step 2 – Secure with screws
Use double rows of screws to secure each module PP board together.

Step 3 – Install the Tarpaulin liner
Install the tarpaulin liner and secure the edges of the tarpaulin with rope.

Step 4 – Install the bottom drain and inspect it
You can consult us for instructions on how to install the bottom drain.

Step 2 – Bottom PP Board Welding
We will pre-process the PP board at the factory. You only need to use a handheld welding tool to complete the bottom welding.

Step 3 – Welding at the joints of the plates
Welding the joints is only for waterproofing and does not bear pressure, so only 3-5mm thick PP sheets are needed, and welding is very simple.

Step 4 – Install the bottom drain and inspect it

Summary of two different lining methods:
- The method using a tarpaulin liner is the simplest to install and has the lowest cost.
- The method using PP sheets as the liner requires welding the bottom and seams during installation.
- However, this method is still simpler than a regular PP fish tank because the PP liner only needs to be waterproof and does not bear weight. Therefore, 3mm-5mm PP sheets are generally used as the liner.
